We have thoughtfully planned the structure of our school day to empower students to pursue their interests, self-direct their pathways, and facilitate their own success. It’s a formula for life-long success.
In Crew, students have a daily advisory structure for character development and monitoring academic progress. 10 - 12 peers stay together in Crew throughout middle school to help build positive, supportive relationships.
During the regular school day, students can explore their interests and develop their talents by working on an individual or group passion project. Examples of Studio courses are music production, entrepreneurship, and coding.

The core curriculum at Capital Village includes embedded instruction in essential life skills, such as goal-setting, time management, and strategy-shifting. Students will develop self-reflection and interpersonal skills needed in all situations.
Based on the customized Individual Learning Plan created to reflect each student's interests, ambitions, hopes, and dreams, mentors meet weekly with students to set long- and short-term goals. Mentors and Crews ensure consistent support.

That longstanding structure of “haves” and “have-nots?” We’ve set out to interrupt it. Our values and philosophy are grounded in years of high-level academic research, intensive investigation of successful models, and extensive on-the-ground community engagement. Parents, community leaders, and organizations such as Washington Urban Debate League, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, and Washington Improv Troupe partner with us to reinvent education and offer equitable access for our students. The old status quo stops at our front door.
